Chameleon by ElegantThemes has been designed as a page based CMS for business websites, but it is also very suitable for all kinds of blogs. Starting version 2.2, the theme is fully responsive.
Themes with a responsive layout will adapt the presentation of the web page to the screen of the device used by the visitor, be it a desktop, a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone – responsive themes respond to size and orientation of the screen.
This theme supports natively one WordPress 3 menu.
Chameleon installs with five custom widgets:
- About Me
- Custom Logo
- The Blog
The latter widget lets you define the number of posts and the preferred posts category for those posts.
Chameleon serves three widgetized areas:
The theme offers a nice collection of page templates:
- full width
The ePanel includes eight vertical tabbed areas:
- General Settings
- Layout Settings
- Ad Management
- Support Docs
Each tabbed area serves one or more horizontal tabs.
How the homepage will look like depends how you are going to use the theme.
When used as a page based content management system (CMS) like for business websites, the home page can be composed from:
- the slider
- the home page quote
- three blurbs displaying content from pages
- a multi media bar pulling images and videos from posts
- any widgets dropped into the Homepage widgetized area
When you prefer to use the theme with the blog-style layout, the home page will show the sidebar, and can additionally comprehend: the slider, the homepage quote, and blog posts.
With Chameleon you can assign any color you like to the most obvious elements as background, headers and body text at the Colorization Tab.
And since the theme is packed with 17 texture overlays, 20 fonts adapting the theme styling to your personal taste is a breeze. By activating the control panel on the homepage, you can alter the background color, the background pattern, and the fonts and colors for headings and body text until you have composed the styling as you want it to be.
The colors for hyperlinks, sidebar and footer text can be personalized at the Colorization tab. That is also the place where you can enable the support of child themes.
The Featured Image is supported fully, meaning it will show up on index pages, as well as on the single post page as the first image. At the Layout Settings you can disable placing thumbs for posts, giving you more control over the image dimensions per individual post.
A note about ElegantThemes’ pricing policy. Basically, ElegantThemes does not sell individual themes. You can only subscribe to a yearly membership for only $39. The membership gives you access to all current and future themes (75 to date) as well as to the support forum for as long as you decide to be a member.
