Screen Capture

Prose by StudioPress is a responsive Genesis child theme for all kinds of blogs.  It is the first Genesis child theme to include a page with Design Settings allowing you to personalize the theme styling simply by pointing-and-clicking.

A theme with a responsive design will adapt the presentation of the web page to the screen of the device used by the visitor; be it a desktop, a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. Hence, such a theme responds to the size and orientation of the screen.

This theme supports natively two WordPress 3 menus – one at the top of the page, the other one just below the header.

StudioPress Prose installs with seven custom widgets:

  • Category Menu
  • eNews and Updates
  • Featured Page
  • Featured Posts
  • Latest Tweets
  • Page Menu
  • User Profile

This Genesis child theme serves seven widgetized areas:

  • Header Right
  • Primary Sidebar
  • Secondary Sidebar
  • After Post
  • three Footer areas

The Secondary Sidebar is only displayed in the three column layout.

Prose Theme Options

Prose Theme Options

The Genesis panel comprehends five pages:

  • Theme Settings
  • SEO Settings
  • Import/Export
  • Design Settings
  • Custom Code

The Theme Settings page serves dialogue boxes to help you personalize the theme:

  • Information (General)
  • Custom Feeds
  • Default Layout
  • Header Settings
  • Navigation Settings
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Comments and Trackbacks
  • Content Archives
  • Blog Page
  • Header and Footer Scripts

You can set the Default Layout to one column (just the content area), two or even three columns. In the latter case, you can opt for a sidebar at each side, or have two sidebars at the same side of the content area. You have the ability to assign a different page layout, to individual posts and pages.

At the Content Archives you can set your preferences for the blog pages. You can select to display the post content – until the Read More tag – when applied – or the post excerpts. When you opt for the post content, you can limit the content to a certain number of characters.

Although the Featured Image is supported, it is not displayed by default. Enabling the Featured Image on index pages is a matter of checking one box. In addition, you can set your desired dimensions for the Featured Image.

If you would like to display the Featured Image also as the first image in a single post, you will have to push the Insert into Post button, right next to the Use as a featured image link.

Last but not least, you can set your preferred page navigation within the Content Archives box. You are offered three choices: Older/Newer, Previous/Next, or Numeric.
