Goodnews by momizat is responsive theme for online magazine and blogs with a solid support for videos, available at ThemeForest.
The theme supports natively two WordPress 3 menus; the Main Menu just below the header, and a Top Nav at the top of the page – above the header.
This theme installs with twenty custom widgets:
- Ads (8x ranging from 120×90 to 300×250)
- Custom Text
- Facebook Likebox
- Newsletter Subscribe Box
- Posts in Images
- Posts List
- Recent Comments
- Social Counter
Good News incorporates seven widgetized areas:
- Main Sidebar
- six Footers
It is up to you how many footer areas you want to activate and use – and how broad or narrow these will be. You can set your preferences at the Footer tab of the theme options panel.
When you prefer a greater variation of sidebars, you can add additional sidebars with the theme’s Custom Sidebars manager (Appearance >> Custom Sidebars). Any custom sidebar will appear as additional widget areas on the Widgets page. You can assign such a custom sidebar to any post or page you like.
The Theme Options Panel comprehends 14 vertical tabs:
- General Settings
- Home Page
- Social Networks
- Post Settings
- Article Share
- Banner Settings
- Feature Slider
- Category Page
- News Ticker
- Contact Forms
- Custom CSS
The theme lets you choose between a full width design and fixed width design – not only for index pages, but for single post pages too.
For the home page layout you can opt for a magazine-style layout with news boxes, or a blog-style layout. The homepage can be assembled from the Feature Slider, a News Ticker, a Scrolling Box with slideshows or videos, and up to ten News Boxes (category boxes).
Goodnews offers two predefined color schemes; light and dark. In addition, you can set the color of about any element at the Colors tab of the theme panel with the aid of a color picker.
At the Typography tab, you can customize your settings for the body text and all headings: size, font, style, and color. You can set the color with the help of a color picker.
The theme extends WordPress’ Edit Post page with the following toggle boxes:
- Article Setup – article, slideshow, or video
- Video Settings – HTML5, YouTube, Vimeo or DialyMotion
- HTML5 Video Settings – M4v, Ogv, Webmv, PostImage
- External Video Setting – Video ID
- The Slideshow – Hide/Show, Slideshow Type (slider/grid), Images
- Sidebars – select here which widget area you want to use, or choose none
The Featured Image is supported fully, meaning it will show up on index pages, as well as on the single post pages as the first image. This feature can be turned on or off at the Post Settings tab of the theme’s options panel. You can even decide for each individual post, whether you want to turn the support of the Featured Image on or off.
